New and returning students to Aurora College will have to wait another month to hit the books, as the post secondary facility has pushed back the start of the fall semester until October 3rd due to the ongoing wildfires impacting several NWT communities.
School officials, in a Facebook post, have also asked students to delay relocation to all of campuses until closer to the start of classes to provide more time for emergency personnel and affected communities to deal with impacts of the fires. In addition to the delay, the college says some of communications have been compromised by the fires, including some telephone lines, email and website infrastructure, and are forced to share most information through various social media platforms.
