Minister of Health and Social Services, Julie Green has released the Child, Youth and Family Services Strategic Direction and Action Plan for 2023-2028.
According to the GNWT, the plan will play a key role in the Department and Health and Social Services Authorities’ continued efforts to keep families together and support children and youth.
“The longstanding overrepresentation of Indigenous children and youth in the Child and Family Services system in the NWT and across Canada is evidence we need to transform our service delivery,” Minister Green says.
The Strategic Direction features seven priority areas that were selected to implement the action plan over the next five years. The areas were chosen to cover a diverse range of objectives, including collaboration with Indigenous Governments, strengthened supports for youth and caregivers, and human resource recruitment efforts.
The GNWT says work will continue advancing changes that will make a lasting impact on the lives of NWT youth and their families.
