The GNWT has released a report summarizing the results of a recent public engagement session regarding the Mackenzie Valley Highway project.
The report also includes feedback from Indigenous governments and organizations, community members, and NWT residents. According to the GNWT, primary focuses included the project description and construction, and proposed mitigation measures and monitoring plans.
As a result, the GNWT has announced the expansion of the study area to improve highway routing flexibility to avoid a moose pasture area identified by the Pehdzéh Kį First Nation.
The GNWT adds that the findings will continue to be considered throughout the project and feedback has been incorporated into the Developer’s Assessment Report, scheduled to be finalized in October 2023.
