With the Northern Mine Rescue Competition returning to Yellownkife this weekend, the organizers of the event have provided a full schedule of events.
The competition includes seven teams from mines across the Northwest Territories and Nunavut, as well as a visiting team from Rio Tinto Copper projects in the United States.
Everything kicks off at 5:00 pm on Wednesday, June 12th, which will simply feature a Coaches and Captains Meeting at the Centre Square Tower.
On Thursday, June 13th, Mutual Aid Training Day will run from 6:00 am to 5:00 pm, with an Event Judges and Casualties Meeting taking place in the following hour.
On Friday, June 14th:
6:30 am to 3:00 pm – Underground Competition at the Multiplex Arena
8:00 am to 1:00 pm – Surface Fire Competition with Airport Fire Department at 100 Taylor Road.
3:00 pm to 5:00 – Construction of Surface Events with UG Teams only.
On Saturday, June 15th:
6:30 am to 3:00 pm – Surface Competition at the Multiplex
8:00 am to 1:00 pm – Underground Fire Competition at 100 Taylor Road, and Underground Bench Technician Competition at Multiplex.
3:00 pm to 5:00 pm – Dissassembly of Mine Rescue Events at the Multiplex
6:30 pm to 12:00 am: Banquest at Chateau Nova Hotel.
This is the first time this event is being held since 2019.
