As the relative humidity increases and light rain accompanies the recent cloudy conditions, Frank McKay, Information Officer for NWT Environment and Climate Change, reports that the Fort Good Hope fire (VQ001) has responded positively to the cool, moist weather. This has aided the progress of containment efforts, which include the construction of dozer guards, 50-foot blacklines, tanker drops, and manual tool work, especially around the community near the landmark known as “Old Baldy” and along the airport road. The Fort Good Hope fire brigade has been incorporated into the daily Incident Action Plan, forming a unified approach with the brigade to protect the community.
