Five People Arrested in Fort Simpson for Drug Trafficking

Fort Simpson RCMP recently conducted an investigation that has resulted in the arrest of five people.

On June 20th, officers executed a search warrant as part of a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act investigation at a local residence. Their investigation resulted in five people being arrested, as well as the seizure of $3,400, around 65 grams of crack cocaine, and other pieces of drug trafficking supplies.

All five of the people arrested are facing charges.

23-year-old Faith Martel of K’atl’odeeche First Nation has been charged with:

  • Failure to comply with a Release Condition
  • Possession for the purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of property obtained by crime, and
  • Escape from lawful custody.

As for the other four, 54-year-old Carl Carpenter of Fort Simpson, 42-year-old Adrian Tambour of K’atl’odeeche First Nation, 36-year-old Deidra Villeneuve of Fort Simpson and 38-year-old Savy You of Ontario were charged with:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking, and
  • Possession of property obtained by crime.

Four of the suspects have already appeared before a Justice of the Peace, while Villeneuve has been released and will appear in court at a later date.
