Two Fort Providence Men Arrested After Robbery

Two men in Fort Providence have been arrested after their involvement in a robbery.

Early in the morning on June 22nd, local RCMP were informed of a violent robbery committed against an elderly person. The victim sustained serious injuries and was transported to Yellowknife for treatment.

The investigation was aided by the Forensic Identification Service and the Major Crimes Unit, and officers were able to identify, locate, and arrest the two suspects.

The two men, one 23-year-old and one 24-year-old, both from Fort Providence, have been charged with:

  • Aggravated Assault
  • Robbery
  • Assault with a Weapon
  • Being Unlawfully in a Dwelling, and
  • Failure to Comply with a Release Order

Both men have already appeared before a Justice of the Peace, and are being held until a further court appearance. The Fort Providence RCMP have expressed their thanks to the members of the public who assisted in locating the two men.
