Helicopter combating wildfire crashed near Fort Good Hope

A team was deployed after an accident involving a Bell Textron Inc. B212 helicopter, operated by Great Slave Helicopters 2018 Ltd. occurred at Fort Good Hope Airport. Mike Westwick, Manager, Wildfire Prevention and Mitigation, says a single occupant was on board the helicopter at the time of the incident. However, no details of their condition or potential injuries were confirmed at the time of publication. The RCMP and Transportation Safety Board are responding and investigating.

The Fort Good Hope RCMP was called to the helicopter crash near the community on June 28th at approximately 2 p.m. The RCMP are currently at the scene as the Transportation Safety Board (TSB) is on their way to Fort Good Hope to investigate. Around 5 p.m. this evening, NWT Fire has confirmed that an aircraft incident took place in Fort Good Hope during wildfire management operations.
