Daniel Kudlak, a Yellowknife resident, won $1 million in the LOTTO 6/49 Gold Ball draw on June 29.
“I couldn’t believe it,” he exclaimed as he claimed his prize. “I scanned the ticket once in the store, jumped back, and thought, ‘Oh, my God!'” He described scanning the ticket multiple times, unable to believe his luck.
Kudlak mentioned that he and his wife are deeply involved in their community. “Every Saturday, we begin our weekend with a drive around town to ensure the homeless have coffee and breakfast,” he shared. They also contribute to the Inuit community program by providing food for those in need, a commitment they plan to continue.
With their newfound fortune, they plan to pay off their mortgage, buy a larger boat, and save for the future.
Kudlak purchased his winning LOTTO 6/49 ticket at the Shell Gas Station on 482 Range Lake Road in Yellowknife and claimed his win at the lotteries office at the Centre Ice Plaza.
