Saskatchewan Man Arrested, Drugs and Guns Seized in Search on Vacant Apartment

The Yellowknife RCMP recently completed what they believe may be the largest seizure of illegal drugs in the history of the NWT.

On May 22nd, Yellowknife officers were initially informed of multiple people who were unlawfully staying in a recently vacated apartment. Officers quickly arrived at the scene and arrested one of the individuals who was attempting to flee through a window.

A search warrant was acquired for the location, and the investigation produced two handguns, over $12,000 in cash, a number of prescription drugs, illegal cannabis products, a large amount of what was believed at the time to be cocaine, and several other pieces of drug trafficking supplies.

On July 24th, Yellowknife officers received the results of an analysis that was conducted on the seized drugs. These tests revealed that at least one kilogram of the suspected cocaine was actually methamphetamine, pressed into pill form.
