The Parkinson Association of Alberta has announced that for the 12th year of their Step ‘n Stride fundraiser event, their walk will be held in Yellowknife.
The event is set to take place on Saturday, September 14th. Past years of this event have seen upwards of $3.8 million dollars raised to help those with Parkinson’s live a better life. The money also goes to help fund services, programs, and advocacy efforts for the Parkinson’s community.
Previous years have seen thousands of Albertans gather from across the province, and receive words of encouragement from special guests and PAA leaders.
This year, the theme is Unshakeable, as the fundraising event serves to celebrate the victories of people affected by PD and PD+, and the determination and resilience they show every day in dealing with the disease.
Last year, Step ‘n Stride was able to raise more than $360,000 for Parkinson’s efforts. This year, the PAA is aiming even higher, and has set their goal at $400,000.
