The fees for tenant services at the Yellowknife Airport are set to increase.
The fee increase is set to take place on October 13th. The increase will impact services such as maintenance, first aid and extinguisher training, and airside driver operator permit testing. The changes will also impact the cost of fines for lost keys and passes, as well as float plane escort and docking services.
Most tenants will have the option to either use these airport services, or contract them out.
The reasons behind these price changes are listed as labour costs, equipment costs, northern considerations for the unique costs of operating in Yellowknife, and cost recovery.
YZF operates on a cost-recovery basis, meaning fees are set to cover the cost of providing services, not to generate profit. The airport’s fee structure is updated periodically to reflect the true cost of operations, ensuring the airport remains financially self-sustaining. The Yellowknife Airport is planning on reviewing and updating their fees annually.
