The City of Yellowknife and the Public Service Alliance of Canada, representing the main bargaining unit of City employees, have reached a tentative agreement.
Should the deal be ratified by the parties, the agreement will see an annual pay raise until 2027.
The tentative agreement includes the conversion to the City’s new classification system and pay grid, providing a 2.25 per cent wage increase prior to January 1st of this year. The tentative agreement is a four-year term ending on December 31st, 2027 and includes a three per cent annual raise every January 1st until 2027.
The tentative deal also includes additions to leave and allowance provisions such as Rest Periods, Casual Leave, Indigenous Cultural Leave, Parental Leave, Birth and Adoption Leave, and Personal Safety footwear.
The city will continue to work with the local PSAC unit representing Municipal Enforcement and the Yellowknife Fire Division to negotiate the collective agreements for those staff members.
