In an effort to help recruiting, retention, and training for apprentices in skilled trades, NWT MP Michael McLeod has announced a $625K federal funding bump for Aurora College’s “Updating, Upgrading, and Expanding Apprenticeship Level Training in the NWT” project.
According to McLeod and his colleagues, skilled tradespeople are “essential” for Canada to build more homes and unlock Canada’s full economic potential.
“By funding this project, our government is helping more Canadians in the Northwest Territories to work in rewarding jobs in the skilled trades and supporting the development of a workforce that is skilled, inclusive, certified and productive,” he says.
The project is being funded through the Canadian Apprenticeship Strategy’s Union Training and Innovation Program Investments in Training Equipment Stream.
