The Legislative Assembly of the Northwest Territories is launching a new initiative to bring more education opportunities to Northern communities.
The program is called “Speaker’s Sneakers,” named for the Speaker’s approachable and well-known sneaker collection, this new approach is designed to give a new perspective on the Speaker’s duties. This platform gives a closer look into the Speaker’s activities in and around the NWT, including Youth Parliament and the Mace Tour.
The platform features an interactive map of the Speaker’s travels, personal insights about the locations he’s visited, and an educational focus for students to further understand what it takes to be Speaker of the Legislative Assembly.
