The Town of Hay River is getting ready to finally receive an award that was earned over the summer.
Earlier this year, a competition was put together by ParticipACTION to find Canada’s Most Active Community. They judged various towns and cities across the country based on how engaged their residents would become in a range of different community activities.
In a neck and neck race with several other Canadian communities, Hay River was eventually declared as the most active community in the country. As their reward, they are set to receive $100,000 to support local physical activity and sport initiatives.
Delegates from ParticipACTION will be in Hay River on October 19th to take part in an official cheque presentation ceremony for the community. Residents in attendance will also be able to learn about how the funds will be used. Following the announcement, residents will be invited to spend the afternoon at the Community Centre and participate in free ‘try-it’ sessions for a range of active activities.
