Now that the snow is here to stay, the City of Yellowknife has shared some reminders to keep in mind to help avoid any unnecessary mishaps.
The City is advising residents that businesses and homes in the Central Business District and Franklin Avenue must keep the sidewalks around their properties clear of snow and ice to help keep pedestrians safe. Failure to do so could result in a fine.
Snow removed from the sidewalk may be placed on the road, but snow from one’s driveway or any other part of the residence must be placed elsewhere. Placing unauthorized snow on the road can greatly increase the volume, making driving more dangerous.
Finally, the City is advising locals that properties on trucked water and sewer to make sure the access to the service points is clear of snow and ice. If the access points are blocked, water delivery and sewage pump out won’t be able to occur until the issue is fixed.
