Aurora Chorealis Preparing Special Performance in Yellowknife

The Aurora Chorealis group is teaming up with the Skyfire Taiko drummers to put together a special musical presentation.

This presentation will include a wide range of musical styles, and is intended to acknowledge and discuss the various issues troubling the world today in an attempt to inspire unity and cooperation. The music will be performed in five different languages, including Ukrainian, Italian, and Estonian.

The performance will take place on Friday, November 8th at 7:00pm, and on Saturday, November 9th at 2:00pm at the Legislature Building in Yellowknife. Admission will be completely free, though guests are advised to arrive as early as possible, as seating will be limited.

Margo Nightingale, the Conductor for Aurora Chorealis, said that the pieces they’ve made for this event come from very different times, cultures, and circumstances, yet bring a sense of common purpose when they are sung together.

““We present music of protests. Singing these together gives us a sense of purpose and protection. Sometimes this music inspired big change when that change was needed most.”
