The City of Yellowknife will be holding a special launch event for their new line of busses.
The new vehicles are known as YKFlex, and will be replacing the existing Yellowknife Accessible Transit System while providing the same specialized services, but with increased safety.
The service provided by YATS, and that will now be provided by YKFlex is a door-to-door service for users who are unable to board standard busses due to a temporary or permanent physical or functional disability.
Earlier this year, the City also introduced a new line of standard busses that are now all equipped with wheelchair lifts. As of April, all Yellowknife busses now have some degree of accommodation for passengers with reduced mobility.
The City will be officially launching the new busses at an event on Friday, December 6th at 10am at the Fieldhouse.
