Yellowknife’s Samba K’e Civic Plaza was bathed in colours as part of the City’s participation in the Winter Lights Across Canada event!
This event was first launched in 1985 as a festive way to highlight various sites along Confederation Boulevard in Canada’s Capital Region. In the following years, it was expanded to include other sites of interest in Ottawa, and since then, has been expanded even more to include the entire country.
Many Canadian cities take the opportunity to highlight some of their local monuments and sentimental locations with a colourful array of holiday lights. This event serves as a symbolic way to connect all of Canada.

All of the trees in the plaza were covered in lights, and gathered guests were welcome to come down to the Legislative Assembly for hot chocolate, cookies, and a special visit from the big man himself!
