After fifteen years of operation, Yellowknife’s A&W location will be permanently closing its doors at the end of December.
The announcement was made in a post on the A&W Yellowknife Facebook page made by Todd Stewart and Randy Caines. They explained that this decision is one that they had been considering for some time, and that they were reflecting on the “challenges facing the community.”
“A&W Yellowknife has proudly served this community since 2010 under the current management group. Over the years, we have had the privilege of being a part of countless moments shared by our customers and employees. Serving the people of Yellowknife has been an honor, and we are deeply grateful for your support and patronage.”
Located on the corner of Franklin Avenue and 49th Street, the A&W has always been a popular downtown location, and served as a regular gathering spot for locals. Many middle-aged and elderly residents enjoy attending the restaurant for coffee and breakfast in the morning, and the idea of the spot continuing to serve that purpose under a different business has been floated across the community.
Stewart and Caines expressed their thanks to their team and their customers who helped to make their time at the restaurant special. They stated that they will continue to provide the same level of care and service up until the final moments.
“Thank you once again for your trust, support, and the memories we have created together. While this marks the end of our journey at A&W Yellowknife, we carry forward the friendships and connections made here with pride and gratitude.”
