An arrest has been made in Hay River after RCMP were informed of an individual pointing a gun at other people in the downtown area.
On December 13th at around 4:00pm, Hay River officers were informed of a fight that had broken out just outside the arena. They were told that the fight had progressed to the point that one of the individuals had pulled out a pistol and was pointing it at someone else.
Once officers arrived, the suspect was attempting to leave the scene in a vehicle, but was quickly taken into custody without incident. Upon closer inspection, the pistol was determined to be a replica firearm.
After the investigation, 33-year-old Kyle Norn of Kátł’odeeche First Nation is facing the following charges:
- Pointing a Firearm
- Assault with a Weapon
- Using an Imitation Firearm in the Commission of an Offence
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
Norn has appeared before a Justice of the Peace, and was returned to custody to await a later court date.
