The execution of a search warrant on February 7th has resulted in the Yellowknife RCMP seizing thousands of dollars in cash, as well as weapons and drug supplies.
As part of an investigation under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act lead by Yellowknife RCMP’s General Investigation Section, officers were gathered at an apartment building within the city to carry out the warrant.
This operation turned up $8,300 in cash, a pistol, ammunition, drug precursors, and other drug trafficking supplies. As a result of this investigation, 61-year-old David Simpson of Yellowknife has been charged with:
- Trafficking of a Controlled Substance
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, and
- Possession of a Weapon contrary to Order
As the investigation remains ongoing, Simpson has already appeared before a Justice of the Peace and has been returned to police custody.
