City of Yellowknife Taking Applications for Homelessness Advisory Board

The City of Yellowknife is currently taking applications for individuals who would be able to fill vacancies on the Community Advisory Board on Homelessness.

Yellowknife is well known for having a substantial homeless population, and is always looking for new ideas and initiatives that could help improve the standard of living for those people.

To help fill the vacancies on the Community Advisory Board, the City is taking applications from members of the public, with a focus on a few key factors.

The City is looking for:

  • One representative who has lived experience of being homeless
  • One representative who is from an Indigenous background or organization such as a Friendship Centre or Indigenous Housing Organization
  • One Representative from Veterans Affairs Canada, or other veterans group, and
  • One representative from a Yellowknife business.

The Community Advisory Board is one of the key bodies within the city that helps community leaders to craft their responses to ongoing homeless issues.

The deadline for applications is on Friday, February 21st.
