To help raise money for their various needs, the Stanton Territorial Hospital foundation is once again holding their annual fundraising gala!
Every year, the STH Foundation puts together the Gift of Giving Masquerade Ball as an opportunity to have members of the community gather together for a night of fun, but to also help raise money to support the Hospital’s efforts in patient care, purchase new medical equipment, and work towards other important projects.
While the Foundation does not currently have any specific goal in mind, Patty Olexin-Lang, the Executive Director of the Foundation, says that any financial support is always appreciated.
“The hospital has a continuous wish list of items that we’ll always be fundraising for. We don’t have a huge campaign project per se right now, but there are a number of items on that wish list.”
Having already sold out all of its tickets, the event is looking at an attendance of around 310 guests to fill the Caribou Room of the Chateau Nova Hotel.
As with every year, this event is also holding a silent auction to help raise additional money. This year’s auction will also be bringing a few innovations to make things a bit easier for participants. In order to expand the auction and allow for greater participation, the Foundation is working with Givergy.com, and has created an online platform for people across the Territory to take part.
This new approach was spearheaded by another Foundation Board Member, Jennifer Eggenberger-Gillard, as well as Carol Sundberg, and their work has already been seeing results. The online auction is live now, and will be open until 11pm on February 15th. In the time since the service went live, Yellowknifers have already placed many bids on the more than 170 available items.
Patty expressed her gratitude towards the public, saying:
“The generosity that Jennifer and myself have seen with the auction, with purchasing tables, for sponsorships, is second to none and incredible in this town. Our sponsors and out supporters continue to give, and we’re very very grateful for absolutely everyone who has stepped up in every way. Whether it’s a twenty dollar, or a five thousand to ten thousand dollar item, it’s incredible!”
The doors for the Gala will be opening at 5:30pm on Saturday, February 15th.
