One man has been taken into custody after an incident of uttering threats in Tsiigehtchic.
At around 3:50pm on February 27th, Fort McPherson RCMP were told of an elderly man who was making threats of obtaining a firearm and firing it around town. As a result, the Hamlet of Tsiigehtchic was temporarily placed under a lockdown order.
Fort McPherson officers were dispatched, and were able to locate the suspect, who had locked himself inside his home. Officers were able to determine that the man was in fact not armed. They then secured a warrant to enter the residence and arrest the man without incident. No firearms were found within the home.
The 65-year-old man was released from custody conditionally, and is set to appear in court on April 8th.
