The Alberta RCMP are currently working with Territorial officers in investigating the death of a man who was already in custody.
At around 4:00pm on March 12th, Yellowknife officers were called out to a business on 50th Street, where a man was reported as being a public nuisance, and was displaying signs of intoxication.
Shortly after the man was detained, he began showing signs of medical distress. Despite the best efforts of officers and paramedics, the man eventually succumbed to his condition and was declared deceased on the scene.
This incident is being investigated by the “K” Division Major Crimes Unit from Alberta, who are working alongside the Office of the Chief Coroner.
