A suspect has been arrested and charged with a homicide that took place last month in Fort Good Hope.
On February 24th, Fort Good Hope officers were called to investigate the suspicious and sudden death of a 29-year-old man. Further investigation led officials to believe the cause of death to be a homicide.
Working in collaboration with RCMP from Quebec, Northwest Territories Major Crime Unit charged 18-year-old Sasha Bena of Montreal with murder as part of its investigation. Police believe Bena may have also been involved in drug trafficking in the area, and that may have contributed to the homicide.
The RCMP have expressed their thanks to all community members for their help.
The charges against Bena have not been proven in court.
