Two More Charged in Fort Resolution Trafficking Case

 

Two additional suspects have been charged in relation to a recent firearms incident in Fort Resolution.

After gunfire was heard coming from a local residence, local officers were able to arrest and charge two men for trafficking drugs and illegally owning weapons. Further investigation on this matter has yielded additional results.

A Fort Resolution local, 28-year-old Taylor McKay, has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking, and
  • Possession of a Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition without a License

Additionally, 42-year-old Kimberly Giroux, who was arrested in the initial investigation but was released on conditions, has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of a Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition without a License, and
  • Being Unlawfully in a Dwelling

Both of these suspects have been placed on undertaking conditions, and are set for a further court date of June 11th.

The investigation into this incident continues.

As the community of Tuktoyaktuk braces for a weekend of blizzard conditions, predicted to begin this morning, more communities in the Aklavik, Inuvik and Paulatuk region are facing extreme weather and warnings. Originally the federal agency had predicted that a blizzard would begin late Friday in Tuktoyaktuk, but according to reports, conditions intensified earlier than expected and the storm is predicted to begin this morning.
