Ecology North has shared their full schedule of events for the upcoming Earth Week celebration.
This year, Earth Week is taking place from Tuesday, April 22nd, to Saturday, May 3rd. Cited as the birth of the modern environmental movement, Earth Day was first recognized on April 22nd of 1970 as a way to honour the Earth and the concept of peace, as well as to promote the research of solutions into the world’s environmental problems.
While not equally observed around the world, Earth Week is an opportunity to expand that activism, and to allow school children to become more involved.
Ecology North’s events begin at noon on April 22nd with a Medicine Walk along the Niven Lake Trail, as well as a discussion on Regenerative Farming, and an Open Mic event with Northwords at the Yellowknife Books location.
A wide variety of events will continue throughout the week. Some of the events are more simplified activities for children, while others are more serious topic conversations with special guests.
