Today at Ecole St. Patrick High School hosted a forum for the NWT federal election candidates. Liberal MP Candidate Rebecca Alty, Conservative MP Candidate Kimberly Fairman and NDP MP Candidate Kelvin Kotchilea joined the forum.
Over one hundred students from the school attended and were joined by grade 7 students from Weledeh. “ESPHS wants current and future students to be aware of political processes and the importance of being informed, engaged voters,” said ESPHS.
Candidates had two minutes to introduce themselves and tell the students a bit about who they are and why they chose to run in this election before responding to questions asked by the students.
“This is a forum, not a debate, as it is intended to give the candidates an opportunity to explain their platforms, ideas, and plans. Some of the ESPHS students will be able to vote this year, and all students will participate in the Student Vote on April 25, the results of which will be released after the polls close on the 28,” said ESPHS
