Charges Laid After RCMP Seize Illegal Drug Shipment

A woman from Fort Good Hope N.W.T. is facing charges following an RCMP seizure of illegal drugs.

On April 20 Fort Good Hope RCMP received a report that a female suspect was arriving in the community by plane with “contraband” alcohol.

“Officers made contact with the woman at the Fort Good Hope airport and developed further grounds to believe she was in possession of illegal drugs. The suspect was arrested and searched, leading to the seizure of approximately 261 grams of suspected crack-cocaine,” the RCMP reported in a media release today. 

Marie Erutse, 33, of Fort Good Hope is facing charges including Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. The reported contraband alcohol was not located.

Erutse was released and is scheduled to appear in court on June 2 in Fort Good Hope.

Fort Good Hope RCMP reported that the investigation remains ongoing.
