On September 30th, 2023, members of the Fort Smith RCMP responded to reports of two people who were reported to be passed out near the Fort Smith Recreational Centre.
According to police, officers attended and located two men who were suffering injuries consistent with a serious assault and the men were quickly transported to the Fort Smith Health Centre for treatment.
Police say one of the men was airlifted to Edmonton for additional treatment as a result of serious facial injuries and the other man was treated in hospital and released.
The RCMP have interviewed the individual after he was released from the hospital; however, investigators say he was unable to provide any information regarding what happened to him.
Fort Smith RCMP are continuing the investigation and ask anyone with information regarding the incident to contact the Forth Smith Detachment at (867)-872-1111.
