Fort Providence RCMP say they have responded to “a number” of false complaints in the community.
According to the RCMP, between July 19th and October 11th, 2023, the Fort Providence Detachment received 9 false complaints related to alleged mischief and drug overdoses that turned out to be false.
Upon arrival at the locations, officers attended the “incidents” and determined the reports were not true.
Police say they have identified several youths that are responsible for the calls and are working with the school and their families to prepare a presentation that demonstrates the impact of making false complaints to police.
