It was recently announced that the Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority welcomed their first patient to the Łıwegǫ̀atì building for a scheduled appointment.
This brings the NTHSSA one step closer to their goal of creating a “campus of care” around the Stanton Territorial Hospital. Their idea with this plan is to improve the convenience and access of these services for Yellowknife residents, and those who come to Yellowknife for their care.
At the moment, Primary Care services are available, as well as Outpatient services such as Audiology Services, Child Development Team, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, and Speech Language Pathology.
While the Łıwegǫ̀atì building will be offering a few cases of same-day appointments, most will still be offered at the Yellowknife Primary Care Clinic. The location of the appointment will be clarified once the appointment is booked.
Now that the new location is opened, all Outpatient services at the Centre Square Mall or the Stanton Medical Clinic are now closed. The NTHSSA have expressed their thanks to the staff for their work in getting the new location set up, as well as to residents for their patience in the coming months as the workers settle into the new building.
