Northern Subways Taking Part in National Food Bank Fundraiser

A national effort is about to take place by Subway restaurants that will provide aid to Northern food banks.

In recent years, and especially in the wake of the pandemic, the use of food banks saw a substantial rise as many people suddenly had to deal with additional financial struggles.

On October 16th, Subway locations across the country will be donating one dollar from every cookie that they sell, and will be donating that money to Food Banks Canada, that will in turn be used to deliver food packs to communities in need.

Through this “Never Miss Lunch” project, Subway has helped Food Banks Canada to provide more than 710,000 food packs to hundreds of different communities, which includes up to 8,400 food packs to the NWT.

Last year’s event saw 77 million cookies sold at Subway restaurants.
