Yellowknife Woman Receives Child Pornography Charges

The Yellowknife RCMP have just completed a nearly year-long investigation into Child Pornography.

The investigation was first launched in October of 2023, when the RCMP learned that offences were being committed from a Yellowknife address. In February of this year, a suspect was arrested and their residence was searched, where several electronic devices were taken for examination. The suspect was released to wait on the results of the examination.

Further forensic investigations revealed enough evidence to bring formal charges.

On October 17th, 39-year-old Angel Anderson was arrested and charged with:

  • Two counts of Transmitting Child Pornography
  • Possession of Child Pornography

Anderson has already appeared before a Justice of the Peace, and has been given several release conditions that she must abide by:

  • She may not obtain or continue any employment or volunteer position that puts her in a position of authority over anyone under the age of 16.
  • She may not have any direct or indirect contact with anyone under the age of 16 without an approved, adult supervisor.
  • She may not attend any public park or swimming locations where people under the age of 16 are present, or can be reasonably expected to be present, such as a school, playground, or public library.

Anderson will be appearing in Territorial court on December 10th in Yellowknife.
