Yellowknife Offering Training Program for New Lifeguards

To help with the approaching launch of the new Yellowknife Aquatic Centre, the City is holding a special training course for new lifeguards.

Over the past few years, construction has been steadily underway on the Yellowknife Aquatic Centre, which will be replacing the Ruth Inch Memorial Pool as the City’s main location for swimming, both recreationally and for sporting purposes.

With completion of the new location drawing ever closer, the City of Yellowknife is now searching for the right personnel to staff the facility and provide the services needed for a pool’s operations.

This training program is part of the National Lifeguard certification, and is Canada’s professional lifeguard standard. The training is designed to impart the specific knowledge, skills, and values that a lifeguard needs.

The training will run from January 10th to February 15th. Lessons will be taught on every Friday and Saturday from 6:00pm to 9:00pm at the Ruth Inch Memorial Pool.
