The aspiring writers of the NWT will soon have an opportunity to show their skills.
The NorthWords NWT writing group is about to launch their first ever Flash Fiction Contest, in partnership with Northern Quill Publishing. Up for grabs in this contest is several hundred dollars in cash prizes, official membership into the Northwords NWT group, and for first place, their work will be published in the Fall edition of the Up Here Magazine.
The theme for this event is “Edges.” What this means is that NorthWords is looking for short stories about meeting the unknown, pushing past limits, and beginning a new stage in life. This can be literal, emotional, or metaphorical. The contest officially opens on April 1st, and works will be accepted until the deadline of June 27th. The maximum word count for submitted works is set at 1,000.
Regardless of whether or not they win, all finalists will be featured on the social media platforms of both NorthWords and Northern Quill Publishing.
